Three Sound Rivers staffers recently completed the trip of a lifetime - a 12 day, 175 mile kayak journey down the Tar River.

Throughout the trip, the three paddlers were able to highlight the recreational value of the Tar River, document any water quality issues affecting the river, and gained plenty of interesting stories.

Taylor Register, a Water Quality Specialist for Sound Rivers, and her paddle mates, Katey and Emily, share the stories of their working adventure.

Sound Rivers is an environmental non-profit dedicated to protecting the health of the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico River basins. Sound Rivers works in collaboration with local and state partners to identify and address water quality issues affecting the local community.
