About The Event

Sound Rivers is a nonprofit organization that guards the health of the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico River Basins. They unite with concerned citizens to monitor, protect and preserve the watersheds covering nearly one-quarter of North Carolina.

Three full-time RIVERKEEPERS® monitor this region’s waterways, serving as scientific experts and educational resources to schools and communities living in the watershed.

Katy Langley provided an overview of Sound Rivers, the organization whose mission it is to protect the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico river basins.

In addition, she updated us on the status of the Neuse River following hurricane Florence. She talked about the challenges facing the lower Neuse River and discuss legislation that may affect the watershed.

There was active question and answers following her presentation.
