Vollis Simpson Whirligid Park & The Wilson Botanical Garden

On Thursday, August 2, 2018....A fun-loving group join the Carolina Nature Coalition for a field trip to Wilson, NC.
Some carpooled from New Bern and some met us in Wilson.
The ride was a little over one hour from New Bern.
10:45 AM : We started in the morning at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park. The two acre park features 30 of Simpson’s whirligigs, including some of the largest of his life’s work.

Everyone took time to relax and socialize at the Creamery Family Restaurant, where fast food, sandwiches, beverages and ice cream hit the spot.
2:00 PM in the afternoon, we were given a guided tour of the Wilson Botanical Gardens by a member of the local Master Gardeners. The garden is located behind the NC Cooperative Agricultural Extension building.
